the family
wine collection . les cavaliers
Following the gins, brandy, and grappa, the Gélinas lineage grows with the introduction of a high-flying wine collection. The objective: to deepen the graphic universe developed for the family distillery in Saint-Sévère and restore the noble reputation of the Cavalier du Versant, a wine that put Domaine Gélinas on the map over twenty years ago.
Since it was always anticipated that the family would expand, the partridge and horse emblems were designed as a pair, a face-to-face homage to the terroir. Both ranges share the same signature, De terres en terres (From lands to lands), as well as the seal that represents the family's expertise. A series of labels with inverted colours was also created for the elegant reserve range. With consistent type sizing across all packaging, a harmonious and united family reigns on the estate's shelves.
the territory
While the distillery's products highlight the family's history in Saint-Sévère, it is the lands and rivers of the Mauricie region that nourish the identity of this elegant wine range.
the topography
Since the Cavalier du Versant had already existed for many years, the idea was to update and expand the lineage without altering its essence. The slope (versant), which literally cuts across the label, was already a direct reference to the landscape surrounding the vineyard, giving us the idea of exploring the historical topography of the region. The exercise proved fruitful, with the new names drawing directly from the territory's nomenclature.
the cavalier
The cavalier emblem, born from the significant equestrian heritage of the Saint-Sévère region and the estate, was reimagined in a more artisanal style, reflecting the house's preferred approach. This nod creates a strong, embodied visual signature, in dialogue with the partridge developed for the distillery range. Meanwhile, the numbers inscribed on the bottles extend the equestrian universe established by the cavalier, but above all indicate the tasting journey of each product and their tasting notes, a valuable tool for the estate's sommeliers.
